Welcome to the Weaver Foundation!
The Weaver Foundation was built on the ideals and inspiration of the woman for whom the shelter is named; Georgia Mattson was a caring, giving woman who believed in diversity, and acceptance of each person she met for who they were. Upon the death of Georgia, a group of people from different walks in life got together and decided to continue her work in the community.
Georgia’s House, which is operated by The Weaver Foundation – Georgia Mattson Memorial Shelter, is a 501 (c) (3) organization in partnership with Bremerton Rescue Mission. The house is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Our program is for low-income homeless women and children, as well as women who have experienced domestic violence victims.
Our facility has five separate rooms, four of which we plan to use for individual families and the larger one to serve as a family room/dorm for single women. Our clients are all referred from Kitsap Community Resources (KCR), another non-profit in the Kitsap Community which provide clients with case management.
Our staff consists of individuals all of whom are volunteers; willing to show compassion, as well as provide a listening ear and heart.
The foundation will primarily focus on those individuals age 18 and older with no discrimination with regards to age, race or beliefs. No one will be turned away from our doors without some assistance. The need to combat homelessness within our community requires that clients receive basic life skills and preparedness to transition into a self supporting entity.
Helping individuals to become self-supporting entities without the worries of shelter for themselves and their families is our primary goal.
