Our Inspiration

A message from our Executive Director,

I met Georgia Mattson in November 2007 while employed with the Silverdale United Methodist Church.  Mrs. Mattson was the type of person who would give anything to those she met on the streets from a word of encouragement to food. She was not one to support a bad habit but if she met someone willing to accept what she had to offer she would do her best to ensure they got what they needed.  As we became friends, we shared a vision.  The vision was simple; no one should have to spend the night outside in the cold.

Georgia died December 16, 2009 before her vision could be realized!  A permanent shelter open seven days a week no matter how cold, wet or dry the weather was.

As her partner who worked with her doing mission work here within the Kitsap Community, I have no intentions of disappointing her; in the one dream that was most important to her - the one she was adamant about was the need for a permanent shelter in our community. Through my families dedication and the dedication expressed by many of Georgia’s family and friends to the Vulnerable Population of Kitsap County we have started The Weaver Foundation.

The Weaver Foundation is dedicated to fulfilling Georgia's dreams, I hope you would join me in fulfilling the dreams of a woman who thought everyone deserved help and those of us in a position to do so, should step up and provide services and a helping hand to help our fellow men get ahead.
